New York, NY – GDP INSIDER  –  05/11/2014.

This article discusses two companies:  Crocs, Inc. (NASDAQ:CROX) and Time Inc (NYSE:TIME)

Crocs, Inc. (NASDAQ:CROX) shares did will on Friday and increased by $0.83 to $14.02, a gain of 6.3%.  The increase followed a first quarter loss that missed analysts’ forecast by $0.04.  While EPS missed, the company delivered sales and 2Q guidance in line with expectations from the Street.  Wunderlich increased its price target on the shares after the earnings report.   It issued a new target price of $17, an increase of $1.50 over its prior target.  Analyst Danielle McCoy from Wunderlich stated she believed the company was succeeding with a focus on both improving operations and future earnings growth.  This is a tough line to walk and if management can do it successfully, the stock can move higher.  The stock is up 12.3% year-to-day, and we expect it to move higher. It has made a sustained move above its EMA, and from a technical perspective, is not showing signs of reversing.

Time Inc (NYSE:TIME) had a good day in trading on Friday and was up by 6% to $22.62.  The shares also had more than double the average volume and traded 2.6 million shares versus a daily average of under 1 million.  The media company was up following a better than expected earnings report.  It posted a narrower-than-expected loss of $0.06 versus an analyst forecast of -$0.13.  Revenues were down by 8.7% and in-line with expectations.  Management also provided guidance of $3.08 – $3.18 billion that bookend the $3.13 billion consensus analyst estimate. Fundamentals in the print media business are still challenging, but the fact that the company was able to dampen the impact of lower sales is a positive.  Results over the next few quarters should provide additional visibility into the firm’s ability to make money long-term.
