It seems like that time of the year when all Smart phone and tablet operating system makers like Apple and Google are going for upgrades. On the back of android releasing its latest Kit Kat O.S earlier this month, Apple came up with its new O.S version iOS7.

AT & T to Kick Start Test Kit Kat on Moto X

On the back of these O.S updates, the smart phone hardware makers get into the act and kick start the pushing of the new updated O.S to their end users. A similar exercise was announced by AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) in tandem with Motorola for the owners of Moto X who have registered for Motorola Feedback Network. The Service provider has put its test users on notice to be available on an upcoming software update.

Other Telecom Providers to Getting Into the Act

It is being speculated that the anticipated role out is of the much hyped Kit Kat series of Android 4.4. This is because similar tests have already been launched for Moto X users tied up with Verizon operator. Adding more weight to this assumption is the fact that Droid- Life trade magazine has been told by people in the know that the testing for AT&T Moto X is scheduled to start on November 22 and will be extended to the wider user base starting December. The other major telecom operators with big Moto X handsets are T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular.

“Android 4.4 Kit Kat” is being touted as being backward compatible to older smart phones which are equipped with only 512 MB of RAM. During its launch, Google had posted on its website that “KitKat streamlines every major component to reduce memory use and introduces new APIs and tools to help you create innovative, responsive, memory-efficient applications.”
