Cemex SAB de CV (NYSE:CX) announced that 5 of its cement-manufacturing units have now earned the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR certification. The plants that have been recognized are located in Miami and Brooksville in Florida, Fairborn, Ohio, Clinchfield, GA and Victorville CA. This recognition demonstrates that all these units are in the top 25 percentile of energy conservation facilities in the United States. This year is the 7th consecutive year that the Clinchfield plant has received this certification.
Only one other cement plant in the U.S has been able to achieve this feat. The Miami Plant has received this certification for the 3rd consecutive year and for the Brooksville, Fairborn and Victorville plants, this is the 2nd year of certification.
All these plants have put energy-efficiency principles to use, throughout the year. These ENERGY STAR guidelines are developed by the EPA for Energy Management. The energy conservation efforts have been deployed in monitoring technologies. The units have also completed various energy reduction projects and promoted energy-efficiency awareness amongst all its employees.
