Hacker takes bite out of Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s developer site
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reported that the website it has for 3rd party developers was hacked and that the objective of the hacking was to seek personal information. Currently the site is in offline mode as APPL is investigating the matter. The system will be overhauled completely and prevention of future attacks will be prevented. The site has been in the offline mode since last Thursday.
It essentially provides documentation, development tools as well as advanced developer-preview versions of Apple’s unreleased software such as OS X Mavericks and iOS 7. A major section of the content on the site is used only by registered developers who operate with the company under the NDA or the non-disclosure agreement. The additional developer resources that lie outside this restricted site are still available.
A matter of transparency
Apple released a statement today in which it stated that all the sensitive and personal information is encrypted and no one can access it. They
also added that the company has not been able to rule out the possibility that some information like names of developers, email and/or mailing addresses, might have been accessed. The company said that it chooses to be transparent and has thus casino spiele released information about the incident. APPL said that the site had been taken down the minute the issue came to light and that they have been working on correcting and solving it since then.
In rectify mode
The statement also added that the company is updating the server software, overhauling the developer systems entirely and rebuilding the entire database. Tom Neumayr an Apple spokesperson clarified that the website that had been hacked but that it did not hold any customer information. He also added that all customer information is encrypted securely. This breach is a definite disruption and embarrassment for the tech giant. At the moment it is in efforts to complete massive upgrades on its desktop and
