Quicksilver Resources Inc(NYSE:KWK) suffered a substantial decrease in value during yesterday’s trading, falling $0.28 to close at $1.50. The 15.73% loss in value came in response to the company’s earnings call, during which the company revealed earnings and revenues figures that were below analyst estimates. As a result, Quicksilver, which had a trading volume of 9,184,003, fell to as low as $1.39, a new 52 week low. The stock also lost an additional two cents in after-hours trading.

Alpha Natural Resources, Inc.(NYSE:ANR) lost two cents during yesterday’s trading to finish at a closing price value of $3.42. What is more notable, however, is the fact that the stock has lost an additional seven cents in after-hours trading to move to a value of $3.35. This new mark places Virginia-based thermal and metallurgical coal extractor just twenty-five cents above its 52 week low of $3.10. On July 31st, the company revealed that it planned to layoff over 1,100 workers in West Virginia.

Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc.(NYSE:HOV) fell fourteen cents during yesterday’s trading, a 3.57% decrease in value that moved the stock to a closing price of $3.78. The stock fell to as low as $3.75 during the day, a mark which represents a new 52 week low for the company which one traded for as much as $6.80. The New Jersey-based company, which designs and builds residential homes in the United States, had a trading volume of 3,090,637, a figure that is 359,367 higher than its three month average trading volume of 2,731,270.
