Infinera Corp (NASDAQ:INFN): Tuesday’s trading session saw Infinera Corp (NASDAQ:INFN) gained 4.31%. The opening price of $9.20 climbed to an intraday high of $9.53 before settling down to close at $9.16 per share. Around 2.68 million shares were traded in the last trading session, which stood above the average volume of 2.08 million that was measured over 30 days.

Infinera Corp is a company that provides optical networking equipment, software and services to various communications service providers, Internet content providers, cable operators and subsea network operators across the globe. As of December 29, 2012, 111 different Service Providers have opted for Infinera Corp (NASDAQ:INFN)’s optical architecture platform. They use this platform to increase and manage their respective optical networks in an efficient manner. The company manufactures large-scale photonic IC’s that are deployed commercially.

Its first-generation PICs transmit and also receive 100 GB per second, optical-transmission capacity. These IC’s combine the functionality of over 60 optical-functions into one pair of indium-phosphide chips. Infinera Corp (NASDAQ:INFN)’s Digital Optical Network architecture provides Service Providers a mix of bandwidth management tools.

Molycorp Inc (NYSE:MCP): Tuesday’s trading session saw Molycorp Inc (NYSE:MCP) dipped 1.49%. The opening price of $6.82 climbed to an intraday high of $6.87 before settling down to close at $6.61 per share. Around 6.29 million shares were traded in the last trading session, which stood below the average volume of 10.70 million that was measured over 30 days.

Molycorp Inc (NYSE:MCP) is a rare earth oxide producer. The company’s operations are in the Western hemisphere. Outside China, it is the owner of various developed, rare-earth projects.  MCP also owns rare metal and rare earth oxide producers in Europe. Molycorp Inc (NYSE:MCP) produces rare earth alloys in the U.S. It has three different operating segments: Molycorp Tolleson, Molycorp Mountain Pass and Molycorp Sillamae. On 1 April 2011, it acquired 90 percent interest in AS Silmet which is based in Sillamae, Estonia.

On 15 April 2011, MCP acquired Santoku America, Inc. On 24 October 2011, it acquired the balance 9.9 percent interest in Molycorp Sillamae. On 22 August 2011, the company opened its Tokyo office. This set-up will provide customer support and technical and consulting services to its customers located in Japan.
