Marani Brands (OTC Pink: MRIB) (PINKSHEETS: MRIB), announced on July 30, 2014 that in an effort to increase exposure of its premium vodka spirit called Marani, it has launched live demos in several stores across California. The company said in the release that 13 Costco stores were selected for the demos which ran from 31/7 – 8/3 2014. MRIB confirmed that the demos were conducted by sales pros and included a $5 instant discount per unique customer over the demo period.
Exposure through demos have proven very effective for companies operating in the liquor industry. Pernod Richard announced on May 19, 2014 that it is stepping up its summer marketing campaign for its cocktail drink, Kahlua®, the classic rum and coffee liqueur.
According to the release from Pernod Richard, the new drink will be ideal for casual dinner parties, backyard BBQs and all sorts of event ideas in between. The company launched the campaign by sponsoring New York magazine and Vulture multi-city, summer-long Kahlua Summer Shake-Up Movie Blend Series. The launch venue was in New York City at the iconic Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

Diageo plc (ADR) (NYSE:DEO) unveiled plans to raise awareness for its Guinness brand in the USA after a 6% decline in North American sales for the 12 months ended June 30, 2014. The company says it plans to launch a “Made of More” ad campaign that will see many familiar designs for Guinness altered to appeal to a broader market base in the US.
The big push by companies to ramp up marketing comes after growing demand from liquor drinkers in the US. Whiskey and Vodka lead the charge as consumers consume more of each year. According to a report from DISCUS, vodka accounted for 32% of volume supplied to wholesalers and 26% of revenue for supplier sales in 2012.
Emergent players in the space like Marani Brands, Inc. will be looking to the strong demand as the push to carve out greater market share intensifies among competitors.
