MCP also owns rare-earth oxide as well as rare-metal producers in Europe. On 1 April 1, 2011, MCP acquired 90 percent interest in AS Silmet located in Sillamae. On 15 April2011, MCP acquired Santoku America, Inc. On 24 October 2011, it acquired the balance 9.9 percent interest in Molycorp Sillamae. On 22 August 2011, Molycorp its Tokyo, Japan office. This office will offer customer support, consulting and additional technical services to customers located in Japan.
