Now LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) On Iphone & Android Through Pulse App

Yesterday LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) announced the full integration of social newsreader app Pulse into its mobile and web based professional network portals. This integration would help offer more relevant news experience with content tailored to one’s professional interests on both the platforms – the Pulse app as well as LinkedIn.com.

The Pulse Story

Earlier in April 2013, LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) acquired Pulse for $90 million a stock and cash deal. Pulse was founded in 2010 by Stanford University students Akshay Kothari and Ankit Gupta to increase the daily media consumption towards facilitating informed decision. LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) acquired Pulse to power its professional publishing platform where many of renowned and novice professionals network to consume content and publishers join to share their content.

The pulse was initially launched as an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPad app and later it expanded to other platforms including Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Android powered devices,  web platform and it also added social features to its app to make in more interactive.

It also means that the professional news you’ve come to expect and rely on from LinkedIn just got better — infused with added discovery and navigation functionality as well as expanded publisher content.”

LinkedIn Pulse Advantage

LinkedIn Pulse will give the news reader a completely renewed experience with enhanced makeover that will allow users with functions to like, comment and share from LinkedIn content, channels and influencers once the sign-in the Pulse app using their LinkedIn profile.

The influencer blog posts as well as publisher content that people follow on LinkedIn will now also appear on Pulse and this will become activated once users login with their LinkedIn password to the new LinkedIn Pulse app. Moreover the selection of publishers on the desktop will also highlight what people are following on the Pulse news reader.
