3D Pioneer Systems Inc. (OTCBB: DPSM) made several important news announcements starting in June 2014. The first major announcement surrounded the company’s launch of its flagship 3D printing solution called Pioneer Pomade. According to the news release, Pioneer Pomade addresses an important deficiency in current 3D printing technology by allowing 3D prints to properly stick to print beds. The improvement delivers greater efficiency as well as preventing print jobs from being aborted which increases costs. 3D Pioneer Systems Inc. (OTCBB: DPSM) says that Pioneer Pomade will be available in two versions – PLA and ABS.

3D Pioneer Systems Inc. also announced the appointment of a new COO on June 24, 2014. According to the release, experienced entrepreneur and international executive, Brendon Grunewald will act as the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), reporting directly to the CEO. The company said that Mr. Grunewald will be responsible for spearheading the development and execution of DPSM’s strategy to establish itself in the 3D printing space.

Other companies in the space are innovating too and ExOne Co. (NASDAQ:XONE) has taken steps to expand its addressable market. The company has introduced the ability to print with other metals in a bid to outpace competitors in the expanding 3D printing market. ExOne Co. (NASDAQ:XONE) now allows 3D printing with inconel 625, a nickel-chromium super alloy suited for high-strength and high-heat applications. The newly introduced printing capabilities will allow ExOne Co. to ramp up its aerospace 3D printing products.

Voxeljet AG (ADR) (NYSE:VJET) is also pressing ahead with its move to establish greater market position in the growing industry. The company supplies 3D printers and on-demand parts and services to both commercial and industrial customers. Voxeljet AG (ADR) (NYSE:VJET) has developed a special powder binding, additive manufacturing technology to make parts that have a wide array of applications using several material sets. Like several established players, VJET is trading strong and was valued at just over $16 in its last trading session.

3D printing is projected to reach $10.2B by 2021 according to Gartner Inc. It’s a projection which is spurring new entrants and established entrants in the 3D printing space alike.
