Small Caps to Watch: The Dolan Company (NYSE:DM), ECOtality Inc. (NASDAQ:ECTY)

Northern, WI 05/06/2013 (GDPInsider) –  The Dolan Company (NYSE:DM) started trading today at 2.19 and is up 6.74% on volume of 137.49K. The stock has a range of 1.95 and 2.19 and the rally seems to be a carry-over from last week’s earnings report. Dolan managed to post a profit and beat out Wall Street expectations. This meant the stock soaring and gains as high as 8.25% were recorded. Dolan provides business information and professional services to legal, real estate and finance businesses and the company reported last week that adjusted income EPS jumped to $0.01 a share. Wall Street had predicted EPS of $-0.13, which means Dolan did better by a sizable $54.36 million. The stock has been trending south since January 2013 and so the recent uptick will be a relief for investors who’ve committed to the stock. Presently DM is down 9.20% on its 50-day simple moving average but up 11.38% on its 20-day simple moving average. Target price is 4.00 and the stock has a RSI of 55.00.

ECOtality Inc. (NASDAQ:ECTY) is up 4.66% since opening the day’s trading at 1.59. ECTY has a range of 1.52 and 1.65 and volume is 335.36K. ECOtality Inc is a leading  provider of electric transportation and storage technologies and the company recently filed SEC Form 8-K announcing its AGM slated for August 22, 2013. Recent developments also include the announcement of the retention of The Piacente Group TPG) to help with the boosting of ECTY’s image in the financial community. TPG will advise ECTY on investor relations as well as the implementation of strategic investor communications.

The stock has recorded solid gains in the last four months and ECTY is currently trading 40.25% above its 50-day simple moving average and 6.46% above its 20-day simple moving average. The stock is up 496.15% on its 52-week low of 0.26 but down 22.50% on its 52-week high of 2.00. The stock has insider ownership of 33.25% compared to 18.41% for institutions. There are 25.63 million shares outstanding and the company has a market cap of 38.45 million.
