VelocityShares VIX Short Term ETN (NYSEARCA:VIIX): Thursday’s trading session saw VelocityShares VIX Short Term ETN (NYSEARCA:VIIX) rising up 0.89% and closed at $10.16. It opened at a price of $10.56 which touched an intraday high of $10.57, before moving down to close at $10.10 per share. In the previous day’s trading session, around 0.115 million shares were traded.

On Wednesday, The S&P 500 moved from record intraday-high of 1,687.18 to close the session 0.83% in the red. The trading session was ended by the Chicago Board Options Exchange volatility index (VIX) with just a 3.37% advance. On 20 May, the VIX had risen 4.58% post a considerably lower Chicago fed National Activity Index. One would presume that this dramatic swing on Wednesday would be an indication of a volatility that was higher that that which existed on Monday. VelocityShares VIX Short Term ETN (NYSEARCA:VIIX) experienced a volatile day as well. Its 50-day average seems to be on a slight uptrend in comparison to its level trajectory. However, the 13.41 that is stands at is much lower than the 200-days moving average of 14.90.

iPath S&P 500 VIX Short Term Futures TM ETN (NYSEARCA:VXX): Thursday’s trading session saw iPath S&P 500 VIX Short Term Futures TM ETN (NYSEARCA:VXX) rising 0.91%. It opened at a price of $19.50 which touched an intraday high of $19.56, before moving down to close at $18.65 per share. In the previous day’s trading session, around 10.80 million shares were traded.

One way of interpreting the Stochastic Oscillator is to look for overbought areas that stand above 80 and oversold areas, which stand below 20. The Stochastic Oscillator is 25.3335.
