BreitBurn Energy Partners L.P (NASDAQ:BBEP): There was a drop of 1.49% in BreitBurn Energy Partners L.P (NASDAQ:BBEP) shares in Friday’s trading session. The opening price of the shares was $19.45 which reached an intraday high of $19.57 before dipping to $18.79 per share. Over 1.16M shares were traded in Friday’s trading session which was higher than the average volume of .567M that was measured over the last 30 days.

From an operational standpoint, the company’s first-quarter was a very active one. It set a strong base for additional activity in the current year. As planned, BreitBurn has spent close to $45 million in total capital and is seeking to significantly increase its drilling activity through mid-2013. The expectation is that it will move through the year at the same pace that it has started out at. A majority of the company capital spending will take place in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

The partnership has announced that more than 95percent of its capital spending will be on its high-margin oil projects. These include the ones that are in California and Texas where the drilling results have been very positive.

Telephone & Data Systems, Inc (NYSE:TDS): There was a rise of 0.18% in Telephone & Data Systems, Inc (NYSE:TDS) share in Friday’s trading session. The opening price of the shares was $22.83 which touched an intraday high of $22.83 before dropping to $21.94 per share. Over 1.16M shares were traded in Friday’s trading session which was more than the average volume of .582M that was measured over the last 30 days.

Telephone & Data Systems, Inc (NYSE:TDS) is essentially a diversified telecom services company. Its wireless operations are provides by the United States Cellular Corporation which is a subsidiary that it holds an 84 percent stake. The wireline operations are provided by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Telecommunications Corporation, TDS telecom. As of 31 December 2011, Telephone and Data Systems served 5.9 million, U.S Cellular customers as well as 1.1 million TDS Telecom access line.

The company operates in three different segments- U.S. Cellular’s wireless operations, CLEC, TDS Telecom’s Competitive Local Exchange Carrier, which are its wireline operations and ILEC, TDS Telecom’s Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier which are also wireline operations.
