Metalico, Inc. (NYSEMKT:MEA) has moved to revamp its board of directors. The company formally added scrap metal veteran, Cary Grossman, to its board on January 1, 2015. The board appointment had been announced late last year but was set to take effect at the turn of the new year.

The addition of Grossman to the board of Metalico, Inc. (NYSEMKT:MEA) is beneficial in more than a few ways. Besides being a veteran in the matters of scrap metal recycling business, Grossman is also expected to bring almost unrivaled financial management experience to the board. No matter he has been added to the audit committee of Metalico’s board.

Grossman served as CFO and consultant at Blaze Recycling for several years. He is also the president of merchant and investment banking firm, Shoreline Capital Advisors. As such, his experience in financial matters and exposure to metal recycling business are expected to benefit the operations of Metalico, Inc. (NYSEMKT:MEA).

Vantage Drilling Company (NYSEMKT:VTG) enters 2015 at a time when falling oil prices is the reason investors are careful how they play energy stocks. Does it look like Vantage Drilling is going to have it rough in the new year? According to some analysts, a look at the company’s near-term contracts does show that it is in a much greater danger than its peers.

However, the analysts concede that Vantage Drilling Company (NYSEMKT:VTG) is not immune to prolonged challenges in the oil sector. The company posted revenue of $207.5 million and lost $0.02 per share in the most recent quarter. The quarter was adversely impacted by the Titanium Explorer drillship downtime of 27 days.
