American Express Company(NYSE:AXP) announced on Wednesday afternoon that it had recorded a third-quarter net income of $1.5 billion, an 8% increase year-over-year from its previous $1.4 billion figure. Not only that, but the company’s diluted earnings per share rose from $1.40 during the same period in the previous fiscal year to a mark of $1.40, a 12% increase. Additionally, the company announced on Oct. 14th that it had partnered with McDonald’s to provide a Membership Awards program.
SLM Corp(NASDAQ:SLM) announced on Oct. 13th that it will be reporting its third quarter financial results on Oct. 22nd, 2014. The company will also be hosting a conference call on Oct. 23rd, 2014 to discuss the results. Additionally, The Sallie Mae Fund reported on Oct. 13th that it will be donating a $15,000 grant to the YMCA of Delaware in order to support the Black Achievers Program and Teen Leadership Programs of the YMCA in Wilmington’s Central and Walnut Street branches.
On Oct. 8th, Mastercard Inc(NYSE:MA) debuted its Saturday Night Live Credit Card. The item provides special entertainment rewards for customers who make purchases. In addition to the points card users will already receive for every dollar spent, additional points will be provided for entertainment purchases. Users can also receive discounts through various comedy clubs, the Dinner Lab, and Hulu Plus. The company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Raja Rajamannr, also delivered a keynote address at the Skift Global Forum on the Future of Travel on Oct. 9th.
