New York, NY – GDP INSIDER  –  10/07/2014.

This article addresses three companies that are trying to gain control of their cable television markets: Windstream Holdings, Frontier Communications, and Cincinnati Bell.

On Oct. 2nd, Windstream Holdings Inc(NASDAQ:WIN) announced that it would be launching a next-generation television entertainment service called “Kinectic” in 50,000 Lincoln, Nebraska homes. The new product will be available alongside the company’s high-speed Internet and phone service and offers customers wireless set top boxes, whole home DVR, multi-screen viewing, video on-demand, and multiview. The key feature of Windstream Holdings’ offering, however, is the fact that it is supported by its fiber-backed network. This will enable fast streaming of video on-demand offerings.

Frontier Communications Corp(NASDAQ:FTR) has recently announced the appointment of new area general managers in New Haven County and Eastern Connecticut. Additionally, the company also reported that it had selected Edward O’Connor Jr. to serve as Sales Vice President for the entire state of Connecticut on September 29th. These appointments have come in response to Frontier’s agreement to acquire AT&T’s wireless business, fiber network, and U-verse video and satellite operations throughout the state.

Like Windstream Holdings and Frontier Communications, Cincinnati Bell Inc.(NYSE:CBB) also offers television services to its customers in the area. However, Cincinnati Fioptics has been met with quite a bit of criticism due its inconsistency. While the company’s cell phone network, which the company has agreed to sell to Verizon, and Internet service have been met with consumer approval, Cincinnati Bell has failed to master the television game. The company will release its quarterly results on November 5th.
